The secret is to go one small step beyond what you mentally believe you can do.
As a child I pushed myself hard to make good grades, learn new skills, build more muscle, and run much faster. I drove myself to be the strongest scholar athlete I could be, but so often fell short of the mark.
Each day included at least one difficult activity that pulled me out of my comfort zone, and often resulted in failure. Did I give up? No. I tried again, failed again, and learned from it.
God help me to keep that same fire in me as an adult. Challenge me each day to go one small step beyond what I believe I can do.
Today I hope to build more team building “muscle” as I lead my leaders through a brainstorming and growth workshop. We will have fun, challenge ourselves, and feel uncomfortable at times… but we will grow, and that is in my book the definition of a good day.
